An Evening Watercolor

Moonrise from a dune trail….

Water Tower at Twilight

What makes this picture special for me is not just the backlight of the sun setting but the clouds curving overhead.

Autumn

We don’t get the months of brilliant-colored leaves here like I had growing up in Pennsylvania but the skies can be amazing.

Neolithic Monument - Drenthe

Bronneger Complex

Bronneger Complex

Drenthe is a beautiful, green province located in the northeastern part of the Netherlands and home to these mysterious, ancient stone monuments called “hunebedden” in Dutch. It is believed these passage graves were constructed by the Funnel-Beeker people about 4,000 years ago. What you see here is actually the bare skeleton of the original monument as the stones were once covered over in soil and grass. It’s really quite incredible to realize you are standing next to something that is older than the Egyptian pyramids!

Amazing Feet

This photo is right-side up! I found this busy bee working hard in the botanical gardens, gathering pollen while hanging by her rear legs. Click to enlarge the image and you can see some pollen spilling out of her leg basket.

Blue Door - Heidelberg

Wouldn’t you love this to be the entrance to your house?

This was taken near the Kornmarkt in Heidelberg, Germany.
